Showing human trafficking victims a way out

I'm getting a bit jaded with the once a month Sun articles on the sex trade to boost circulation. They generalize too much and always play the same tune- In other words sensationalism that is not terribly balanced.

You can compare it to the bashing the Toronto Star likes to give Ford.

CTV's Canada AM ran a segment a few weeks ago when the teenage prostitution story broke. Marci Ein interviewed prostitute-cum-social worker, who spoke about the reality of human trafficking in Canada. I don't think she's one of the women named in the Sun article, but the circumstances described ring a bell.

The startling assertion the interviewee made was that, contrary to popular belief, human trafficking is not an immigrant or foreign problem. She said that 80% of her clients are local, Canadian born and raised girls. Marci's eyes just about popped out of her head.

The Sun story would seen to bear out that claim.

Just your humble opinion which I respect.

Have you not noticed how much he has saved the city?. Yes he is not perfect but he is keeping many on line.

Have you noticed your taxes have not dropped one bit. The city of Toronto saved a bundle this winter with no snow removal, made a fortune on the land transfer tax. They've enjoyed an over the top reserve fund, I ask you again- have your taxes dropped? Yesterday Stintz inspite of the Fords wants to introduce higher property taxes to reflect the true value of Toronto properties. Why is this happening? It's because they have no respect for the Fords and want to rub their noses in it!! They are constantly toying with the idea of making the Gardner a toll highway which will happen one day. He has Mammoliti by his side who at one time was an NDP'er and now because of the opportunity opened up for him he's gone over to the right. This is the same guy who keeps trashing MP's because his strip joint buddies are losing money.

The Sun works for the Conservative party. Harper is planning to squash prostitution and needs the press to have the public demand they do something about the industry. It will not be about prostitution when the heavy hand comes down, it will be about human trafficking but either way it will turn into the US or Sweden model.

Really? Seems to me the Province was leading the way on the appeal of the Ontario decision.

The OP's article is the same drivel abolishionists have been touting during the decriminalization appeals.

Human trafficking, unlike prostitution, doesn’t always involve the sex trade

That's the Sun's lip service to objective reporting before returning to the dramatic depiction of the exploited prostitute. The conditions they lived (live) through is mirrored in other industries where workers are exploited. I can show you truckers addicted to coke and meth, seamstresses and home builders forced to work in unsafe or unsanitary conditions, taxi drivers who work 15 hours and bring back 1/5 of their pay.

Exploitation is exploitation. You want to stop it? Don't frequent businesses known to do so, whether in the sex industry or not.
