Where to shop for ladies? Need suggestions.

Hey all, especially the ladies.
I want to take a lady on a little shopping day, locally. We'll be looking for casual but classy... pants, tops, summer dresses, etc. Her kids accused her of dressing like a Mom. We're talking about a mid 40s lady who wants to be stylish but doesn't want to dress like a teenager.

I'd prefer not to go all the way downtown. Mississauga, Newmarket or along 401 would be nice.

Any suggestions?

And now I'm wondering if you're referring to shopping for ladies or ladies' clothing.

I am not sure of stores in your area, but more importantly, is to find a GREAT salesperson, most likely a woman, who is not solely working for commission. Someone who actually wants to help, and who loves the idea of helping another woman pick out a new style.

I have a go-to girl at one of the stores here in town, we have the same name. The clothes in the store are not very high end, but well made and reasonably priced. But it is the service that keeps me going back. She helps me so much when I go in there; making suggestions for possible outfit combinations, different sizing, honestly telling me how it looks on me...she is invaluable. I just love her.

Last summer I had a huge reception to go to, and of course, I waited until the last second to try things on to find an outfit. To my horror, all of my dress pants were too big on me. ALL of them. I went into her store, fit to be tied, desperate for an outfit. I brought the shoes that I was going to wear. She set me up with the cutest outfit, I am still wearing it, and still getting compliments on it even a year later. Of course, she also scolded me for waiting last minute, but I deserved it.

A great sales person can really make or break not only your shopping experience, but your wardrobe, too. Especially since your friend seems like she does not have an eye for fashion and is probably stuck in a fashion rut, she could really use the advice of a good and honest sales person.

Pick a store that has decent fashions for her age group, but also one where the sales people are helpful, and use them! They are there to help.

DUDE... Seriously unless she's shopping for lingerie, you'll be bored out of your skull... Better just to give her the credit card and tell her to go shopping with her GF's... I'll lend her Mrs. CG for a day if you want... she's a virtual EXPERT at this sort of thing and close to the same age range too! Maybe Ang can lend you Mrs. Ang too, and they can make a day of it! :shock:

CG, I'm well aware of the intolerable boredom factor but I want to do this for/with her. I need few things myself.. some undies without holes would be nice and the kids tell me my shorts aren't long enough, so I can fill in 10-12 minutes with that. Dunno what I'll do for the other 5 hours and 50 minutes.
