Just went to check back CL for an ad I saw today. The whole erotic services section is gone. It's not in the news. The last I read they were refusing to remove that section in canada and now they have. It isn't illegal like it is in the US. Why are they doing this?

Oh the shit is bout 2 hit da fan , it's gone can't post an ad cuz there is no erotic section ...so I was gainfully employed til today now I'm not..even though I have other ads craigslist was my main squeeze, I'll be applying for welfare and launching a law suit against the Ontario government first thing monday

Not sure how the govt assholes accomplished this petty exploit. It's perfectly legal in Canada to publish escort ad site. There's no way that CL could have been prosecuted for doing this.

Well, all the people who use Craigslist will have to look somewhere else. It's just a matter of figuring out where. The demand isn't going away. This could be a business opportunity for someone.

This is mere posturing. CL caved to the politicians and can claim to be a good upright American corporate citizen. All mom and apple pie. And the politicians can trumpet their righteous success.
If politicians do decide to pressure Now or Eye to eliminate SP ads, expect great resistance, possibly a court battle, from main stream media. Even though the Globe, Star and Post don't have the same cash flow from SP ads, they will definitely be concerned about fundamental issues of freedom of expression and will support any protest by Now or Eye or LisaOfToronto.
Unfortunately for Lisa, however, those big players won't be bringing out their shotguns for individual entrepreneurs. They'd be just as happy to see Craigslist shut down completely, and Kijiji too. All the free classifieds online are killing the bottom line for media operators that rely on paid ads.
