If I were her parent, I would have made sure she didn't have the drink she wasn't supposed to have in the first place.

The news tonight reported that the false alarm her phone set off was for explosives.

Given that TSA had no way of being sure that alarm was false at that point, I don't think their reaction was inappropriate. It would have been better to have taken kid and dad to a private room, though.

TSA can't assume that no one would ever plant explosives on a child. The sad truth is there are people who would.

I completely agree and by the video it's obvious there was no devious reason for the pat down besides establishing the passenger is safe .

I will say this................All pat-downs are voluntary.................You can choose to exit the airport as opposed to the pat-down.

You can also demand you have a lawyer present when the search occurs.

Legally the TSA or any police force can not search you without your consent....unless you are first charged with a crime.

You can demand to know what you are being charged with and when they say nothing at this time a stale-mate occurs..................you are escorted from the airport and you have successfully denied them the chance to pat you down.


BTW when you buy your plane ticket you agree to all security procedures including the search but you can withdraw that permission at any time.
