11 Year Old Native Girl Dies After Refusing Chemotherapy Treatments

As a parent, I cannot fathom how you could, in this day and age of modern medicine, allow your young daughter to refuse a proven cancer treatment and die prematurely. I would fight to my last breath for any chance of even one more second together, if it came down to it. The alternative would seem too far beyond reality to ever accept.

Well upon reading the article she did do 12 weeks of chemo and this is what they had to say moving forward.

"Chemotherapy did irreversible damage to her heart and major organs. This was the cause of the stroke. We continue to support Makayla's choice to leave chemotherapy. At this time we request privacy from the media while we mourn this tragic loss.''

Well upon reading the article she did do 12 weeks of chemo and this is what they had to say moving forward.

I have never seen damage done to the heart and major organs by current chemotherapy treatments, when administered properly and with suitable supervision.

Indeed, and certainly the drugs in today's cocktails can be caustic and could cause problems if not used correctly, much like sticking Drano in your veins. But we are only getting biased versions of the story, not the complete facts. Gotta admit, something smells funny about the story and excuses. But then, I've been wrong before.

Yeah, the oncologist is in a no-win situation. He lost a patient he thinks might have been managed by chemo, and that always sucks. Yet if he says anythign he'll have the press down his throat for (1) not respecting the girl's wishes or (2) not pushing hard enough to convince them. And, of course, there's always the chance the chemo would not have worked, so either way, the oncologist feels like shit. Oncology is definately not for the faint-hearted.
