Two people are dead, 22 are hurt and others are missing after two buildings collapsed following a gas leak explosion that rattled upper Manhattan and shattered windows with a blast that could be felt blocks away, officials said.

From the news report that I watched, residents and neighbours had called the gas company to report a strong smell of gas. It was an old building and most likely a gas leak.

Sad that lives were lost and it certainly must have an impact on all of NYC after 9-11
