Here is the list of public workers that have earned more than $100,000.00 per year. It's an interesting read.

I'm not sure if it's fair, I wouldn't want my salary published. I believe it was the Harris government that introduced the list for the sake of transparency.

Don't see what the big deal is. If you want top people running your company/government. You have to pay top dollar or they will go to the USA or top bidder.

It was in response to an NDP demand for a "Sunshine List" of people in the private sector. In light of the fact that in Canada the FEDERAL public sector makes on average 42% more than the private and at the municipal level 32% more than the private I completely AGREE with a publishing of this list.
Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away the public sector made LESS because of job security. Now the reply is that "We should get more or we are going to fuck off to the US where they will pay me substantially more."
In light of recent scandals like "Toronto Housing" and mismanagement of things like OPG, maybe we SHOULD let them go and find out what the real world is like.

I notice some of the employees of the Police and Fire Department have made the list. Honestly I don't begrudge them the money. These lists create envy and I believe if it's good for the public sector it should also be good for the private sector to have their salaries disclosed for all to see.
