So, basically, 182 women in the UK each sent a photograph of their vagina to some guys in lab coats, to enter a contest with a chance to win £3,150, and have a rubber facsimile of their vagina manufactured for sale in sex shops. Some of the photos were then reviewed by a random sampling of strangers, and 51% agreed upon the result.
I can remember a time when Engineering students on just about every college campus would have a contest like that, during "Rush Week", when many of the students on campus were 'new'.
Usually, however, the prize would be smaller; a mickey bottle of
Jägermeister, and a 'dollar' trophy, bought at a yard sale, or a 'world's greatest vagina' T-shirt.
There would usually be more than 182 entrants in a contest like that; some of the 'townies' would enter every year. Each contestant would be asked to take a photograph of her vagina, then write her name, address, and telephone number down on the back, and the 'experts' would judge which ones they liked best. Secondary prizes would always be doled out to many of the runners-up, usually an invitation to a party at a Fraternity house.
Contests like that used to happen at every center of higher learning, until some of the students who had no chance of winning decided that no one should be allowed to compete. The rest is history.
