ABC cancels 'Roseanne' after star's racist Twitter rant

That is NOT a joke. Relating a black person to an Ape? Really? You think that is an acceptable joke and not a racial slur?

I grew up in the era of Richard Pryor, Louis CK, Eddy Murphy and all. I do not take insults personally from the entertainment industry. Now days you all do and that is your (I mean those that think like you) problem because either most are over sensitive, have insecurities or want to save the world.

After reading more about her makes me realize that she may be racist but it hat wasn't my intention to agree with her. Just agreeing on the principal. Hope that makes sense.

Leo dude, you can't as a representative of a TV network tweet out comparing a black person to an ape!

She's got a history of putting her foot in her mouth and this is just another example. She reminds of me of another famous person in the States that should just ban themselves for life from social media, they just don't have the intelligence to be there. Hmmm....interesting that their politics are the same.

Such outrage. Are you as outraged when one black calls another black 'nigger'? Uh-huh.

Show should be cancelled. That stuff doesn't fly in 2018.

She represents a TV network that promotes family values. Not very smart on her part, plus she put many people out of work.

Except she was not on some stage doing a stand-up routine, It was twitter. That makes a huge difference.

I get poor taste comdey, I get satire, but twitter is not where that happens. It just isn't.

Plus we have learned from the past, have we not? It is 100% racist to equate a black person with apes. Joke or not. That is just the way it is in 2018.

Yes. I equally think it is equally wrong.

Outrage is not the right word. Sorry if you think so.

Never liked her and do hate when she uses "I am bipolar" as an excuse.

Totally agree. She gives those in the mental health community a bad name.

Bottom line is that Roseane is just not too smart.
SO is "family oriented" ABC for hiring her knowing fully well of her past history.
PS. Money can have that effect on people/organization,..

She is who she is and the network knew her feelings. I am willing to wager Trump is cut from the same cloth but is a little smarter about it.

Black Panther Fixes Marvel's Man-Ape Character | CBR

They completely got rid of the name and the tribe name and renamed both in the movie. It was the comic that had that name. Maybe people raved about Black Panther because it was good movie, the first of its kind, and long over due for the black community. At the very least, the people learned from the past and made the changes required in the movie which is sad that society can't say the same.

I've seen all kinds of posts and memes circulating trying to compare what others have said about Trump (for instance) and what Roseanne said. There is a key difference, Trump and his ilk have never faced generations of slavery and oppression. They also weren't called things like "porch monkey". It is a false equivalence.
What she did was super offensive and wrong and made more so over her blaming it on medical drug use instead of learning from this.
