I live in Calgary, and there were lots of stories about animals at the zoo being rescued. The East Village is just now starting to get back to normal, after 2 months.
But one of the stories I wanted to say is about some of the Hippos at the zoo. As you know, the zoo was completely flooded, but they got all of the animals out in time (some of the lions and tigers stayed in the holding cells at the downtown court center lol). But the staff at the zoo went in to rescue some of the giraffe's, and they noticed the Hippos were close by. They had to put huge concrete pillars at the entrances to all the enclosures, so the hippos wouldn't escape, and they almost did.
If they didn't, they would have escaped, and would have been swimming down the Bow River. That could have been interesting
