Well,

Since it looks like I'm not getting the dogs I wanted, I might as well buy a new guitar, (okay, this is how my brain works... don't bother questioning it, it's totally rational to me). I have pretty well narrowed it down to three options, which one would you choose and why?

Choice #1 - Made in Canada

Choice #2 - Made in USA

Choice #3 - Made in Japan

I own a Carvin acoustic and love it. Not a big player, just a plinker. Impeccable construction, excellent action, and have had positive customer service interaction with their company based in California. The acoustics, I believe are made overseas, but the electrics are made in California.
Have always admired their electrics but don't play enough to rationalize getting one.

from a purely astetic point of view, the carvin looks awesome (being a woodworker).....A buddy of mine is really into guitars and is swearing by eastwood now......I'd check them out...that ibanez has a really cool design, I like "out of the ordinary" but not too hot on the floral flowers and brickabrack. I've always thought about building one from scratch. I can cut just about any shape up to 24 x 48 on my cnc. Someone told me about a "kit" you can buy with a neck.....

Also, if you're looking for something special, why not shop around for an antique strat or a fender? There are some amazing guitars on the market if you look for them. You might even find one someone famous played on.....

Side note: always wanted to learn, my buddies in the band never took the time and I just never took the leap. Now with the work I'm doing I don't know if my fingers are felxible enough....I have trouble typing now.....

May I advise you to try it and see how it feels and sounds. High quality musical instruments are like women - we all have our own ideas on what perfection is. The other thing you may want to consider is what kind of music you intend to play, since one guitar may be more suitable than other. Trash metal guitar is not a great choice for jazz, for example.

But, if you are not an accomplished musician, it doesn't really matter. Get the one that will make women wet - ask your favourite lady for advice.

My personal pick would be Choice #2...I like the shape and the gold hardware. Choice #1 has an interesting shape (I don't prefer it) but I like the colour. Choice #3...wouldn't in a million years buy that particular ibanez...such a busy oogy pattern on it. If I could custom order one, I'd go with a solid black guitar with a subtle paisley design on it...maybe some butterflies thrown in

butterflies? have you SEEN what player looks like? lol....that'll go over well hehehehehe

I agree. This is more to 'add' than to replace. I have played the Ibanez and it is a dream. I've also played (but never owned) a couple Lado's, and they have all been brilliant. I could go to Lindsay to the factory to try one, actually I probably should if I'm gonna drop 3K on one. The Carvin though is only sold direct so that is out of the question.

To give an idea, I already own...

Fender Strat
Gibson Les Paul
Paul Reed Smith
Martin D28
2 Marshall JCM800 100W heads and 2 4x12 JCM800 cabinets.

Years ago I used to play the circuit, but now I just play for fun. I could sell off what I have, but I'd never be able to replace it if I wanted to.
