I went last year, but not this year. It's ok, but these big commercial cons are nowhere near as fun as the smaller, literary ones you have during the year, no matter the stars they host. I found it mostly to be an excuse to spend money on stuff I really want, but don't need at all (Portal gun, more Dr. Who gear)

I do TIFF and go the red carpets to get celebrity autographs, it's free, don't have to pay $50 this Sat at Fan Expo. Plus TIFF brings A- list celebs.

Different business model and different clientel. Geek culture's A-listers are not mainstream's, and Mark Hamill or Patrick Stewart will cause a greater stir than Jennifer Aniston or Ben Stiller. As for paying for the autographs, for some, it's their only bread an butter. Case in point: The actor who played Chewbacca in Star Wars, subsists only by making appearances and selling autographs.

Last weekend spent lots of money at the CNE. Today I'm seriously thinking of going to Fan Expo, but it is seriously such a beautiful day. Maybe I should do something that is outdoors?

I was thinking of going, but the $40 just to get in the door is acting as a deterant. I'm not much of an autograph guy, so.... The draws for me would be Schromer and DeSousa of LFG, as I love that comic, and Adam Warren, to either sign my first copy of the Dirty Pair or punch him the face.

On the other hand, the Snail and Tarantula are both having sales today.:wink2: Hmmmm No door fee, and sales Praise-Bowing
