Australian commuters rescue man trapped in train gap

Hundreds of passengers helped tip a train to rescue a man who fell between the train and platform at a Western Australia station Wednesday morning.

The man stepped onto the train, but then his left leg slipped down between the train and the platform at a station in Perth. Passengers got off the train and worked together to push one side of the train up and away from the platform to free the man.

Transperth posted a YouTube video of the rescue.
Nicholas Taylor was on the train and told News.com.au the man was able to walk afterwards, but he was "a bit sheepish because right where he fell was the 'mind the gap' writing."

Transperth spokesman David Hynes said station staff alerted the driver so the train didn't leave the station, then asked passengers for help, News.com.au reported.
The man was "not badly injured" and took a later train, Hynes said.

If the train didn't have shock absorbers, they would not have been able to move it. As it was, they could push it without actually lifting from the track. Wish we had those kind of cars here in Canada!
