I've started this thread because of a post in the shout box.... In defense of that site(backpages), Firstly it is an advertising site, not an escort forum, review board or anything else,so when using it, buyer be AWARE. I'd also like to say, as an escort, I've met many wonderful, professional, respectful gents....For us in the Maritimes BP is the advertising leader. In Ontario/GTA, HUBGFE rules But.... bait n switch occurs everywhere, so do scams, nefarious escorts and nefarious clients. When I belonged to what used to be known as cerb, now Ly-- and what some consider a good site, the majority of men I met, were no shows, game payers and gossipers/drama kings. Of course there were/are lovely professional and respectful gents as well, but sadly they were out numbered by the bad guys. My point, a site can't guarantee quality hobbyists, nor quality escorts, it can't guarantee anything. *YOU* must do your due diligence when picking your escort/companion. Use tine eye or google image search to check picks, cross reference to see if your provider advertises on other sites, has her/his own website-imo, that is a sign of a professional(as most who take the time to set up their own site will be invested in maintaining a good reputation and customer service),check reviews/recos and talk to them, feel them out, if even then a misjudgement has been made, don't blame a site, remember you picked him or her.We all make mistakes from time to time, and sometimes even due diligence can't prevent them, because when some set out to scam, they'll scam, for them that is a job, sad to say. Best any of us can do is to report such scams and scam artists, but PLEASE, be very certain of your info before doing so.
Luckily HUBGFE is a site where we can mention other sites to have conversations to help one another improve our efforts to make hobbying/providing better for all.

We all should keep in mind, too, that many in this industry have favorites, meaning that *some* are praised, not necessarily because they're great providers/hobbyists, but because, they've befriended and connected with the "right people". So not always does having a "great" reputation, or pages of reviews, guarantee *YOU* a good or safe time. Again, only *YOU* can do that

I have used Backpages in combo with three review forums to meet three different women.
One has been great and turned out to be somewhat addictive.
Two were not so good. Not scammers just not for me.
My first Backpage experience was in Nashville, not for an escort but for a massage. I did no checking and was lucky it was not a scam or worse. Turned out to be a nice young woman. The experience was OK and interesting more than anything.
So many of the ads that look too good to be true turn out to be exactly that upon careful checking. I am very apriciative to HUBGFE as a resource as well as it's endless entertainment value.

I'm more afraid of LE using backpages than anything else. In the past before C36 I found some awesome gems and very good prices off of Backpages, C36 has changed that for me.

Think of the sheer number of guys that see SP's and write reviews, then multiply that a whole lot of times to include the guys that never write reviews, and imagine how many cops it would take to catch all the guys (including the MANY cops) that see escorts all over Canada.

I wish they'd just admit defeat and get on with legalizing the whole thing already!

I wouldn't worry about cops posing on bp in Canada, it takes a lot of manpower and money to set up stings, there would have to be an awful good reason besides the obvious.

and wouldn't it make things easier if ALL men wrote reviews! I have voiced my opinion about my dislike of them, yet I understand their need and respect the fact that they do help all involved. So....in light of that, wouldn't it be great and especially great for new providers, if their clientele wrote reviews to help affirm their credibility and instill in some minds that they're safe to see. A glowing non-graphic review is an A+ for any providers reputation and a green light for any hobbyist, more should commit themselves to writing them, honestly and not explicitly, no one needs to hear a porn story and shouldn't we all want to keep intimacies intimate?
