Transitioning from cold to warm or the other way around is always a tough time for me health wise. I double up on Vit C and make sure I am stocked up on Strepsils. For the last couple years, I've been pretty fortunate to only get the beginnings of a sore throat. This week, however, I have a cold. The only thing that really works for me is bundling up, drinking water, and sleeping through the worst. I hate taking medicine but sometimes I have to take something to get rid of the symptoms so that my body isn't using all the energy to do so. Sudafed and Neocotran always seem to kick ass. What do you do when battling a cold? Let's hear your remedies :) Walk around the kitchen twice on your hands? (my Enter key doesn't seem to be cooperating, sorry)

Nyquil gives me the worst night terrors ever. I stay far far away!

Ditto!!

I melt Vicks Vaporub in a bowl of steaming hot water, put a towel over my head and the bowl, and inhale deeply.

I drink a vodka at lunch, a strong brandy at dinner and a smooth whiskey before bedtime. The next morning I'm usually good to go if I caught it in time.

Just remember that no matter what you take your body will weak for 3 to 5 days. Just the way it is, usually by the 4th day you will be feeling better.

I'm definitely taking it easy Spy vs. Spy! Sarah, I remember doing that when younger. I'll give it a try if my claustrophobia and lack of breathing through my nose sends me into a panic. Maddie, that's great that it works for you. Hope you're not at work when downing all that hehe.

That was how it was diagnosed before medicine and still is.

Get well Miss Amy.

Someone once pointed out to me that when dogs get sick, they quit eating, drink water, and lay in the corner until they feel better - which really means that it's important to rest so your body can use all it's energy to fight whatever you're fighting. Digesting food requires energy, so eating lightly helps save energy too.

Worst thing about a stuffy nose is you can't breathe during BJ's!

I have always found that I recover from a cold quicker if I stay hydrated. Drink water until your urine is clear and drink after every trip to bathroom. Soups, clear liquids and teas help to prevent you from getting sick drinking just water. When I get fed up with the stuffy nose and need some temporary relief, I put 20-40 drops of Tabasco in a glass of water and drink it. It has always provided some short term relief.

Hope you feel better soon Amy.

Lots of sex opens up the pores, makes you sweat, makes you smile and forget about your sickness for half hour :biggrin2:

Thanks Faphard. Thank you Wanker. Thanks so much Transient. I'm staying hydrated and warm. I tried Advil Cold & Sinus. Felt pretty clear and it wiped me out. Woohoo

Amy...come over and il make you soup. Curried butternut squash and leek soup? Or congee?

For the throat: Oil of Oregano.

Hate the taste, but love the results. You can get it in capsules to minimize the strong taste, but liquid drops pack more punch. Not cheap, but effective.

To clear the sinuses: saline solution.

Snorting it up your nose and then blowing out the vulgar discharge is best done in total privacy. It works wonders to restore easy breathing. I've been using it daily for the past year. Regular container is about $18. I went through 3 in about 5 weeks, then switched over to a companion product, NetiRinse. Dispenser and packages of sea salt for $18. Add distilled water and it's a cheap alternative. Bought a package of that in January, use the process daily, 3 times a day when I've got a cold, still haven't finished the same package.

I just lay in bed and take Neo Citron for a couple of days while watching movies.

FatherJuan...it never fails that as soon as I'm sick with a cold and contagious, everybody whom I've been waiting to hear from suddenly wants to have sex with me. Arg!! Thanks G, I'm waiting patiently. Thank you TINY! peace, I've never tried congee soup. I'm so glad the Chinese delivery place near me is fast and knows my order by my cell number. That's kinda sad lol. Art, I don't know if I will ever get that desperate to squirt stuff up my nose but will keep it in mind. Reverse, that's exactly what I wound up doing. Yay for October and endless scary movies.

Well, sweetums, by now you should be past the worst of it.. I hope you are feeling better.
