To qualify you must have at least 2-3 of their services. Cost from $10-$30/month. Hopefully Rogers will follow suit.

Despite years of arguments that Bell Canada (BCE) could not sustain offering unlimited Internet access, the company suddenly managed an about-face Monday, announcing the launch of a $10 unlimited Internet add-on option for broadband customers who do not want to worry about their online usage.
Bell customers in Québec and Ontario who choose at least three Bell services (broadband, television, phone, satellite, or wireless service) can qualify for the add-on. Broadband-only customers and those with two qualifying Bell services can also buy unlimited access for an additional $30 a month.

“Canadians are the heaviest Internet users in the world and our time spent online is growing every day,” said Wade Oosterman, president of Bell Mobility and Residential Services. “Thanks to Bell’s massive network investments and the success of the new Fibe network, Bell is taking the lead in maximizing the online experience with affordable unlimited usage options.”
Another factor may be a forthcoming ruling regarding wholesale access to Bell’s network from Canada’s chief telecom regulator, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), rumored to be beneficial to the growing number of independent providers that already offer unlimited access.
Canada’s largest cable and phone companies have imposed usage caps for at least five years, although a few in western Canada have not enforced them. Most providers offer allowances tied to Internet speeds, compelling customers to upgrade to avoid overlimit penalties if they exceed the limit.
Bell’s decision to offer an add-on may force Canadian cable operators, particularly Rogers, to follow suit.

I have a hard time believing that we're the heaviest internet users in the world.....I mean, many of us are overweight but have you seen the size of most americans?

Anyhow, saw this the other day and as usual, Bell has only gone partway. The $10 or $30 charges aren't enough, there should be a $20 charge in there. For example: If you have 1 service, say internet, then the charge is $30. If you have 2, say phone and internet, the charge should be $20. If you have 3, say phone internet, tv, then the charge should be $10.00.

In the 80's and 90's the cash cow was long distance service.
Cable added tiers of services to compete with satellite in 90's and in ten years or so doubled the end users cost.

Now the internet portion of the service is the cash cow.
Their fixed costs do not go up because you use more data.

Not sure about the Bell offer as I didn't read the fine print yet, but the US networks that offer "unlimited" are not. They all have capacity caps above which extra charges apply. Just like my old Rogers "unlimited data" phone plan, which had a limit on it!

I have Unlimited in Buffalo.
I have an older router that Time Warner can not throttle.

Hell even my phone has unlimited data at 45 dollars per month.

Like I said, when you read the fine print you may find the "unlimited" isn't. There was a proposed class-action suit against on e of the telcos in the US about that just a little while ago.

there is always a law suit.

I wonder now that bell is offering unlimited bandwidth usage, will they throttle your services more readily now?

One thing I have noticed lately is they haven't been throttling my speed......

I called Bell. They do throttle if the usage is more than XX amount per hour over Fibe...so yes, you can get unlimited downloads. At 1200 baud speeds.

Did you see the size of your post count?

Did you see the size of your post count?

yeah I did, and the amount of data used to post or read messages is minimal....about 1/10000th the size of an mp3, or a photo or 1/1000000th the size of a video.

But more to the point, you missed my pun....heaviest...fatest....most obese...lol.....

Thats because too many people left BELL, so they stopped throttling.

I switched to Primus from BELL also because of throttling
