Stockyards

Marben - Pig Roast

Check Calendar for dates.

Any charcoal bbq or smoker.

Tried - Stack (see Rawd's post) - good but not great.

Any others?

Stockyard! What a brunch. We even had the peanut butter French toast. Too bad the resto is so small.

Phils BBQ on college is good, but overpriced.

Barq has been highly recommended to me by several people. The Barq Caesar is a joy to behold, I'm told. I must go.

I have to agree about Barq. Friends from the U.S. came in to visit and they were even impressed.

Yup - Too bad that there is no "real dine in option" at Stockyards (Very crowded and hardly any seats). Nevertheless, good for takeout - chicken (bbq or fried) and ribs. They only do the ribs on certain nights.

I will try Phils BBQ on College. Thanks.

Barqs looks good. Do they do takeout and in dining in, is it casual roll up your sleeves or pretentious?

In my opinion, Barqs is the best BBQ place in the GTA. It is not a pretentious place; it is more on the casual side but a little more of a dine in place than other BBQ establishments. The owners take their smoking (they even have smoked gnocchi which is very good) and meat quite seriously. You would likely feel out of place if you went in a suit.

Not sure if they offer take out - if they do it would be better to dine in as I find BBQ food can become soggy after 15 to 20 minutes in a container. If you live close to Barqs this is not that big of an issue.

If you go, make sure to try some things that you normally would not order at a BBQ restaurant - Ceaser salad with smoked bacon, smoked gnocchi, dry rub chicken wings (recommend, different take on chicken wings), miami ribs and their deserts are quite good as well. Best to go with family or a group of friends to sample / share items.

They have a decent selection of draft beers and occasionally a new local beer to try.
