Bill threatens "pre" clearance. What that means is you could be returning to Canada and detained by US Customs on your OWN home soil. I quote "So you could have a circumstance where the Canadian officer says, 'No I don't think a search is warranted here. I'm not willing to do it.' But the U.S. officer just says, 'Fine, we're going to do it anyway.'"

Well to be fair, the bill was introduced by Harper, but I do agree with you. Trudeau is really turning out to be a lying piece of shit. I'm still waiting for the "response to Bill C51" he promised but we've never heard from.

I completely understand that when I visit another country I am a GUEST in that nation. I have no right to demand anything. But when I am in my country I expect to not be detained by a foreign body/government on my home soil.

This is greater than the sum of a single slant of government. Whether it's Canada or the United States, there is a constant erosion of the rights enshrined in the Constitution/Charter of Rights. I read earlier today some NASA guy had gone to Chile for some solar car racing thing. He arrived at US Customs and they wanted the password to his work phone (property of the Jet Propulsion Lab's.). He initially refused but they pressured him. He is a US born citizen. NASA is a federal agency. And the folks in the comment chided the guy because he had "his work phone with him". Well gee golly idiots, I carry my work phone 24 hours a day because it's part of my contract and that includes when I go on vacation.

I am generally not a fan of any politician & tend to vote for the Pirate Party of Canada even if it's a "wasted vote" to some people. I'm simply at the stage where I am sick and tired of a system that is like a truck spinning in the mud. This country definitely needed electoral reform seeing it's so divided. The west hates the east & vice versa, PQ is loathed and the Maritimes are forgotten. I'm all about democracy even if I dislike the agenda of specific parties.
