Blue Jays.

Cannot compete against the top 4 teams in the East so why bother buying tickets?.

Let's focus on the high flying raptors and our beloved leafs before we get into the summer mood.

Ok?.

A well thought of material. and interesting to read.

The mystery surrounding Josh Donaldson began long before the claims of a “dead arm” and the wondering of what is to happen in this, quite likely his last season with the Blue Jays.

Donaldson reported to spring training with an injury that wasn’t arm or shoulder-related, barely played in any exhibition games, skipped the trip to Montreal for apparent reasons of safety and looked completely lost trying to throw the ball on the season opener against the New York Yankees.

Former Jays pitcher David Cone, now a broadcaster with the Yankees, described Donaldson’s attempts to throw as resembling a “pie-tossing contest.”
The “dead arm” theory is unusual for players who aren’t pitchers, which makes others wonder if Donaldson’s injury was all shoulder-related and some question why he started the opener hurt and not on the disabled list. Normally, a “dead arm” comes from pitchers in spring training, who lose velocity from their normal speed. Donaldson’s problem wasn’t necessarily in velocity as much as it was in throwing motion on Thursday.

It almost looked like he was shot-putting the baseball. And even this early in the season, there are questions and possible repercussions surrounding Donaldson’s status. How does his inability to throw affect the Jays as a team, affect Donaldson’s marketability both in trade value and after that, free agency? Donaldson is historically stubborn, so maybe he insisted that he start the season opener at third base. Whatever comes of the situation doesn’t necessarily bode well for Donaldson’s ending with the Jays.
