Do you think Employers should not hire people who have Body Art?
Would you feel any different if your Doctor or Banking Adviser was covered in Body Art.....
Tattoos, Rings, etc....

I am now able to get a Tattoo but not sure what......:neutral:

For me it not what you look like but how you treat people....what you know....in your field

Though I have a few tattoos myself, they are well hidden when I work. Obviously I am not against them, but in many circumstances there is a stigma attached to them. That being said, when I see a person with a tattoo on their face, I say to myself, "Well, that person has decided that they are never going any further ahead in life".

We're all judged by our appearances, that's even more the case for SPs.

I like having that freedom to choose whoever I like for whatever shallow reason I have. :great:

All my tats are covered as well. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to get and in doing so actually reflected for several YEARS on what my next one was going to be as well as where. I'm finally moving onto the realm of visible areas (Going to get sleeved).
One time I was discussing facial tattoos with a kid I knew and I told him that old joke about getting one on the chin and forever having to ask "would you like fries with that..?" I turned around at the Wendy's we were at, looked at the kid at the till and laughed.
Yes, he had a tribal tat on his chin.

As for visible tats and piercings:

While they are more common than ever, I can guarantee you no corporation will want someone with visible tats representing them. This means, banks, credit unions, retailers, mid to upscale restaurants, family restaurants, etc etc. Unless you're working in a biker bar, or ?? where tats are commonplace.

Tats used to be reserved for "outlaws" and those expressing their individuality by going outside the norm. Now, tats represent the fact that people don't have the ability to be unique and are just following the herd IMO.

Now I'm talking about all those women we see as SSGs with stupid ink all over their body. Now if that is part of your personna as a biker chick, or goth or something, ok...but a cute clean cut suburban chick with a viking shield with flames coming out of it covered her entire torso, that just tells me you have no class and are dumber than a bag o' bricks. That tells me if you're dumb enough to do something so stupid, I'm not going to trust you to not pour coffee into your computer or stick a grilled cheese into the photocopier.....

If you have a small unique tat on your ankle, or inside your wrist or something, I could see you getting away with that. But if I was interviewing someone and I saw they had a rose on their ankle? Into the shredder their resume would go. Simply because it's SO cheesy and tells me they have no imagination or creativity to come up with something unique to represent themselves.

For example: Angelina Jolie has tats on her arm showing the lat and long of the villages where her adopted kids were born. THAT is significant and is a unique way of honoring her kids or if a guy came in with a unit badge and numbers signifying the unit he served with in Iraq....yeah, I would hire him in a heartbeat. But some of the SHIT people put permanantly on their body.........
