Boomers: The worst generation

Baby Boomers grew up in an era where the US had a huge manufacturing sector, strong unions, cheap gas, a very high progressive income tax, and major expansion of affordable housing and free or low cost quality public higher education.

When these a-holes hit their 30's & 40's and started taking over corporations, they destroyed unions, raided pensions, sent our manufacturing sector overseas, fought against public transportation, demanded tax cuts for the wealthy, and replaced public funding for education and housing with finance schemes that caused global economic catastrophe, and put a generation in lifelong debt before they even had a chance to earn income.

Now that they have destroyed the economy for future generations, they have the audacity to preach about "personal responsibility". \

I would agree, but restrict that to first trimester boomers, those born in 1946-1952, as opposed to those born from 1953-59, or those from 1960-64.

The third group were frequently the youngest in large families, so they had the dual influence from parents and teachers, still clinging to traditional values, and the the more Liberal ideas of the Gesellschaft in which they received their 'street education'. This group saw both the rise and the decline of the hippie utopian pipe dream, and were influenced more by acts like Alice Cooper, David Bowie, or the nascent punk scene, than they were by Carpenters, The Lovin' Spoonful, and C, S, & N.

It's those older boomers who did the damage, the ones that sold out after age 30, who can't trust each other, anymore. The younger ones always got a little bit less, same as now.

Jasper, Rand Objectivism is a form of Libertarianism, but the two are not synonymous. Objectivism asserts the individual's right to be greedy, while Libertarianism espouses the individual's right to be unregulated in matters that do not directly conflict with the rights of other individuals. Objectivism is a subset of Libertarianism.

Both rituals allow the Objectivist to avoid direct apology to any individual done wrong, thus avoiding the indignity of admitting error, and being held accountable.

Bill Gates, (b. 1955), is a wannabe; he was on the second boat. That's why he made a ton of money without having an original idea of his own. He just took elements of what other people had done, and given away freely, obtained legal ownership of those intellectual properties, and sold them to people at inflated costs, without investing any resources in improving those ideas, until after someone else found the errors for him, and pointed them out.

Had he been a jock instead of a nerd, he would likely have been a successful used car salesman or 'cold call' stock broker. He does a good job of recognizing suckers, and seeing opportunities to repackage junk with a new paint job.

The role of government is to keep the playing field lawful....not necessarily fare...but lawful. It's up to the people to vote what relationship lawful has to fare.

A wonderful theory to hold on to. The problem is the governments (both here and in the U.S.) define "lawful" according to what get's them re-elected or panders to their base. Lawful would be subject to the will of the majority and that is dangerous in my opinion. Laws should have a universality to them not based on public opinion.

It's pretty much the ones who refused to serve their country in Viet Nam, who did most of those other things, and they didn't think all of those things out fully, while unstupified.

Fucking up with the best of intentions, and Fucking up intentionally, where one gains advantage from the changes, are two separate motives, and there were many in each of these groups. Frequently the latter group pretends to be the former, and those who are entirely in the former group tend to be naive idealists, who place too much faith in dreams, and fail to take into account the natural structure of all societies, the pyramid. The latter group understands the pyramid, and they want to be on top, as would anyone who is ambitious.
