The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday confirmed that the latest was a terror attack.
Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh confirmed that it was indeed a terror attack, but refrained from naming any organisation as the investigation was still on.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said, "We are enquiring the matter and will let you know about the details soon."
At least 16 people were injured on Wednesday when an "incendiary bomb" placed in a motorbike exploded near the Karnataka BJP city office buzzing with activity ahead of the May 5 Assembly polls.
The MHA sources said that the office of , near which the blast took place in the morning, was bustling with till Tuesday when ticket distribution process concluded. However, since the process had ended, there was not much crowd at the party office on Wednesday.
Sources also said that a temple located about 100 metre from the blast site, could also be the target. "The bombers wanted higher casualties so they chose the spot carefully," a source said.
The incident comes a day before the third anniversary of the blast outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Sources said it was too early to name any suspect, but confirmed that improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the explosion.

I was really heartbroken listening to the victim stories on CNN today. How can anyone carry out something like this and have an innocent child on their conscience or a young woman who has never done anything to them seriously injured or killed.
This is so low.
Some men just want to see the world burn, and some men want to commodify it. When the Boston Marathon Bombings happened, loads of images were flooding the internet. Photo based sharing network Instagram startedthe #PrayForBoston hashtag and many images from the event were made public. One man, Steve Goldstein, tried to make some extra dough from all these photos–so he put together a small photo book and charged some money for it.
Unfortunately, I don’t think that Mr. Goldstein knows just how protective the photo community is of their images. For example, our site asks for permission to use images if they’re not ours every time we publish a story if the images aren’t ours or in a public domain. The images that Goldstein included were from major news sources–and he was treated with a cease and desist from the NYTimes. Usually, it is these major outlets that are stealing images that will try to get away with anything to not pay someone. But this time around, it was pretty much the reverse.
And apparently, this isn’t the first time that he’s done it.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's page on the Russian social networking site Vkontakte says he attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, graduating in 2011, the year he won the scholarship.
It was celebrated with a reception at City Hall, according to a news release issued at the time.
Before moving to the United States, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev attended School No 1 in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim republic in Russia's North Caucasus that has become an epicentre of the Islamic insurgency that spilled over from Chechnya.
The principal of School No 1, Irina Bandurina, told the AP that Tsarnaev left for the US in March 2002.
On the site, he describes himself as speaking Chechen as well as English and Russian. His world view is described as "Islam" and he says his personal goal is "career and money".
Tsarnaev appeared in the video released by authorities on Thursday, identified as Suspect Number 2, walking down a sidewalk, unnoticed by marathon spectators.
He followed Tamerlan, walking about 10ft behind him. He wore what appeared to be a grey hoodie under a dark jacket and pants and a white baseball cap facing backward and pulled down.
Tamerlan was stockier, in khaki trousers, a light T-shirt and a dark jacket. The brim of his baseball cap faced forward and he may have been wearing sunglasses.
According to the website spotcrime.com, Tamerlan was arrested for domestic violence in July 2009, after assaulting his girlfriend.
He was an amateur boxer, listed as a competitor in a National Golden Gloves competition in 2009.

Jeff Bauman FBI: Jeff Bauman, one of the victims in the Boston Marathon bombing who lost his legs, spoke with the FBI to help identify one of the two suspects in the case, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed on Friday morning.
The image of Bauman shown being rushed in a wheelchair by paramedics and helpers was one of the most iconic photographs of the incident. It was reported that Bauman was waiting for his girlfriend to finish the race when the bombs went off, taking out both his legs.
Bloomberg News reported that he looked into the eyes of Tsarnaev, 26, just before the bombs detonated. When he regained consciousness, Bauman reportedly asked for a pen and paper.
“He woke up under so much drugs, asked for a paper and pen and wrote, ‘bag, saw the guy, looked right at me,’” his brother, Chris Bauman, told the news agency.
He also spoke about the suspect to the FBI while he was in intensive care.
“I’ve had many times alone with him, and yes, he told me every single detail,” Chris Bauman said.
Carlos Arredondo, a cowboy-hat clad man, was credited for saving Bauman’s life. He reportedly helped rush Bauman in a wheelchair to safety and grabbed a sweater to use as a tourniquet to staunch the flow of blood.
“That was a whole marathon,” Arredondo said, according to the New York Daily News. “Getting people out of the way and getting him help.”
The dead suspect, Tsarnaev, and his younger brother, Dzhokhar, were described as modest and athletic. However, Tsarnaev reportedly had issues with American culture.
“I don’t have a single American friend, I don’t understand them,” he once told a photo essayist before a boxing competition in Salt Lake City, according to USA Today.
But his uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, described the two as “losers” and called on Dzhokhar, a naturalized American citizen, to turn himself in.

What the hell goes on in people's heads? 2 brother's both gone completely mad! I have no empathy for the remaining brother the same way he didn't feel anything as he dropped the bomb near those innocent people.
