Businesses that says "Open at 9 am" and when you show up, they are still closed.

Went to my corner pharmacy at 9:05 am and no one was there even though sign said open at 9 am. Walk to the corner store to buy smokes and also "Closed sign" still on. Again they had their opening at 9 am sign. Walk back to pharmacy and still not opened. Headed off to Shopper's drug mart to get my prescription and went to another corner store to get my smokes.

At 10sh I see a few people walking away from a shoe store because they weren't open yet (10 am sign said to open).

Just curious how much business these establishments lose by not opening on time. I can wait a few minutes but anything over 10 is just wasting my time.

How often has this happened to you and do you wait or walk away to the competition?.

I always arrive to work 15 to 20 minutes early. Helps on getting promotions.

My guess is it's the hired staff that comes late. As an owner I would never let that happen to my business.

Same people that also close 5 to 10 minutes before closing time.

Sometimes shit happens and you can either stop to smell it or just go around it.

Well life does happen, especially to small establishments with few employees. You know, breakdowns, traffic, the alarm not going off, an accident, etc. Up here we have some convenience stores with 4-5 employees, so if one can't make it in, it can be a real bitch to get someone to cover, especially in an emergency. Then you have small 'specialty' shops that might only be staffed by the owner. (And yes, we have a few of those up here)
