Sorry I love the Stampede. IF you have a problem with it don't watch.
I've tried roping and steer wrestling. It's very hard to do and there is as much chance for the Cowboy to get hurt as the steer.
In my case the cowboy got hurt.
Some day maybe Toronto will have an event that remembers the roots of the area.
But I seriously doubt that too many people want to go see the "Bureaucrat Pencil Sharpening Competition" or the "Civil Servant on strike" Exhibition.
This PC bullshit gets too me. I enjoy the rodeo's and they do treat the animals well. The last thing any rodeo wants is their animals looking sickly, instead they all look good enough to throw on a barby!
More horses are put down due to broken limbs in 3 year old thoroughbred horse racing than in chuckwagon races. Remember the filly "Eight Bells" that was put down in front of millions at the Kentucky Derby in 2008 ? That was a horrible sight.
The Stampede is unique and part of the culture of the Canadian west. A wonderful event that dominates a city for a week.
