Letter Carriers and inside sorters are in strike position in early February. Looks like both sides are hunkering down for a battle.

Some of the contentious issues are sick leave and adding significant workloads onto the carriers.

It's going to affect my business quite a bit as I use Canada-Post for bulk mailing.

I am ambivalent about the situation. Nobody likes to have benefits taken away while adding extra work and a strike is really the only way the workers can try and oppose this new restructure.

Winnipeg under the new system has already had several wildcat strikes, I think this one is going to be a bigger fight than the garbage collectors.

Them unions again .

It's not always the unions fault. If management is trying to take benefits away, it is the unions job to represent the memberships best interest.

I am not sure about the issues surrounding CUPW/Canada Post negotiations but if sick leave is on the table I can't see any union worth it's weight laying down and taking it in the ying yang just because the corporation or the public thinks they should.
