Canada's Prostitution Law Appeal

Any updates on how the govt appeal of the prostitution law is coming along??

I thought the deadline was today or tomorrow, no??

The stay has been extended till February, in exchange for being reviewed faster. I haven't heard anything else about this, but maybe Nikki can chime in.

It's something of a delaying tactic, IMO, but it gives the pro-decriminalization camp time to prepare as much as the con sides. I think the government is hoping the opinion will lose steam by then, so it's up to us to keep the momentum going.

Companions, Agencies, clients, we all have to do what we can to keep the focus on the safety of sexwork.

The stay has been extended by one month, potentially longer. We've done this as a courtesy to the Crown, to give them time to get their act together, and so that we can have the case heard by the Ontario Court of Appeal sooner rather than later.
