First off, let me start by saying this is my first post on this board . I have been around on the " other boards" for some time and far from new when it comes too hobbying.

With that being said , let get into the title of my thread.

I amd driving an 06 Ridgeline with a 6 pack cd player and a navigational system . The other day the cd player stopped working.


I can get the same one on ebay for $ 300 ,but what happens if the same thing happens too the player after it is installed?


So I went too a shop and the told me about the Kenwood DNX6980 .It is $ 850 plus installination and a few parts , so I am looking at a grand give or take.

I like the idea of the built system.

I was just wondering does anyone know where I can go /call in the GTA too find a system like the Kenwood?

then you might consider alternatives to the 850 of just bite the bullet and spend too damn much on something you listen to how many hours per day

What about getting a standalone CD deck installed that mounts elsewhere. Are there any additional inputs available on the current system?

Well, you can go to crutchfield.com and do a search on the make and model of your vehicle and they'll tell you what decks will fit. There are literally hundreds of after market decks out there with features like video, dvd, mp3, touch screens etc.

It is pretty simple today to install most decks in most vehicles. Scosche makes adapter plates that will make a radio fit into the factory opening then there's a wiring connector that the new deck hooks to and then it simply plugs into the existing wiring harness. I did all my F150's in about 40 minutes. Usually the plate over the radio area is just held in with friction clips...

BTW: I would NOT buy a used deck for anything more than 1/3 the price. They are so complicated and compact now that any sort of abuse and it won't function properly. Plus who is to say it actually will work out of the box?

Also, not sure of what will fit your vehicle but a CD MP3 car deck can be had for as little as $200.00 or less.

I have to ask: why bother with CDs? Why not simply buy a deck or ?? that has a USB port and just load your music onto a memory stick and play it that way? My F150 came with an aux input so I just plug my MP3 player directly into that (in my case, my player is my cellphone since I have 16 gb of memory and an audio out headphone jack).
