Catering information, HELP !!!

Hosting a party at my home for 20 people. Called a few caterers and restaurants and I am bumbfolded with the pricing of everything. My wife wants to do it at home not at a restaurant and wants a reputable caterer. It's going to be a 4 course sit down dinner with Hor's.

Been quoted from $ 60 to $ 150 for food alone. Fine that is the easy part. We also have to rent plates, cutlery, glasses etc that I have to pay ($600-$800). Fine with that too. Here is what I don't understand. We also have to pay for the labor and gratuity, 3 servers and 3 cooks ($25 per server, $35 for cooks per hour).

I am trying to reason with them saying if I go to your restaurant I will pay the same amount for the food plus tip and do not have to pay their wages plus I don`t have to pay for the plates being used to serve us.

Trying to persuade my wife to go to a restaurant but she won`t budge. Any members here have ever hosted an event at your homes and is this the norm. Anyone with ideas on other options.

Had a few parties a couple of years back, but found the same thing One suggestion is to give George Brown College a call they might have something going. I've eaten at their restaurant classroom a couple of times and have never been disappointed.

Why not have it catered and supply your own cutlery and hire a few ladies to serve the food. Throw the ladies a bit more and I am sure they would even wash the cutlery for you.

Catering at your home is a luxury, Juan. Not much you can do if you are going the high end route. You are right it is cheaper to hit the restaurant but you have to please the wife first :666:.

Rosie is like all the others. They charge you for rentals and staff. Juan all you can do is pay for it and buy a Restaurant next year :666:.
