I managed to see this movie a couple weekends ago and it was a decent watch. It consisted of six different stories in different timelines, between 1850 and very far into the Earth's post-apocalyptic future. The movie was based on David Mitchell's novel Cloud Atlas and was one of those thought provoking movies that got you to ask the question "What if?" As it looked at the inter-connectivity of events and people from the past, the present and the future. The main actors were Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant and they played several roles in some of these story-lines, but I thought they did a great job.
It's one of those movies that you have to play close attention to, as you could easily get lost in the storyline. What I liked was that each of the stories had its own conclusion, some with happy outcomes, others with tragic ones. But in each of them were characters bound with a set of principles and the will to do the right thing, despite the overwhelming odds of doing so.
It is a long 2 and a half hour movie, but I found it interesting, whereas other may prefer a much shorter, condensed version. Despite that, it is one of those type of movies that you will either like or dislike depending on your personal taste.
Peace guys
