NAFTA was never a good deal for the American worker.
In fact the big winner has been MEXICO throughout the life of this agreement.

I am a big proponent of FAIR TRADE..this is the est choice for North America.
It will work if you can get the special interest groups out of it.

I know but each country has her own special interests. Canada should focus on her own needs and work from there than focusing on renegotiating a trilateral NAFTA and enacting her agenda that weren't included in the previous agreement.

During the first negotiations, Canada saw itself as the big winner.

It was only after companies began to move to Mexico was it realized that the US was giving up the most.
Canada in many aspects of the agreement has done well but not half of what was anticipated.

The Trans Pacific Partnership would have seen devastation across North America.
Happily the current POTUS stop it from happening.
The intent is changing NAFTA to make it a more level playing field.
By doing this companies will no longer see a benefit in a Mexican presence.

Canada will benefit as it would create more work in Canada as well as the US.

People forget that it was Manufacturing that brought millions of jobs to North America not farming.

I believe Trump has to get the approval of Congress on any trade deals or kills - and we know how getting anything has worked for him so far ( scraping Obama, travel bans, wall budgets etc). The "Dealmaker" doesn't to be able to anything.
