Creb turns Lyla

Well there was a thread in Creb announcing their name change to the old Lyla.com name. In case you guys don't know, Lyla.com was a really old review site based in Ottawa, back in the 90's. Probably one of the earliest in Canada if not the first ever. I used to be a member of the site actually, way back when. It got bought out by the people who owned Creb, and folded into it.

What I found amusing was that the Creb administrators stated the reason for the name change was because they wanted to get out of the reach of Canadian Law Enforcement, and they think .COM domains are out of the reach of Cdn LE. Well, this site already had a .COM domain, and they still decided to switch over to a .CC domain, because they didn't think it provided enough protection against Cdn LE's reach.

I think Creb, er, Lyla is completely out of their minds. The United States is not far enough away to avoid the reach of Cdn LE. They have also placed their servers in the United States (well, it's been there for ages now already). The USA will not hesitate to cooperate with Cdn LE when it comes to prostitution issues, as they are the global police on morality issues. It would warm their hearts to know that little brother Canada is cracking down on prostitution, just like they do every day of their lives.

I think the term "Lyla" refers to escorts generically...there was not Lyla per se, but yes, it was run by Joyful Spirit...also known as Christine from Cornwall. Not sure if she is still involved or not.

My understanding is that Joyful Spirit used to go by the name "Lyla". Apparently she sold it to Escorts Canada / CERB when she retired !! Actually, I think she's still around.

BTW, the term Lyla has taken a slightly negative turn in modern urban speak. Lyla now apparently means a girl that's kinda cute but not really cute enough to date.
