Cyclist Danny Lesh finds his stolen bike on Craigslist, steals it back

A vigilante cyclist is making headlines for pursing poetic justice after having his bike stolen.
Danny Lesh of Washington, D.C., lent his 14-year-old Cannondale hybrid to a friend. That friend "made the rookie mistake" of using a cable lock to secure it. Thanks to some determination and a pair of bolt cutters, a thief walked off with the expensive bike.

Soon after, Lesh found his bike for sale on Craigslist, NBC Washington reported. A prominent sticker confirmed it was Lesh's.
Lesh contacted the police who admitted they couldn't immediately respond to the situation. So Lesh took matters into his own hands, contacting the Craigslist seller and posing as a potential buyer.

"I knew I had to do it that day, or else I'd never see the bike again," he told NBC Washington.
When he met the seller, he asked to take the bike for a test ride. He never returned. The seller began calling Lesh, threatening to contact the police. The threats didn't faze Lesh one bit.

"I stole it. I stole my bike back from the thief," he told ABC News.

I had my brand spanking new, pimped out bike stolen from right in front of the City Hall Court House...a couple years ago...i locked it right beside that parking spot thats reserved for cops or whatever right at queen st across the Eatons Center...went in to fight a speeding ticket, cop didnt show, case got dropped out...i though cool...imma go shopping...i see my bike is still there, go to eatons ...i buy a pair of white high heels from Guess named "taxi" i come outside and my flukking bike is gonnnnnnnnnnnnne


i remember ppl who seen me freak out ...tell me to go to Sherbourne Park to look for it ...i was like whaaat ..no way am going to deal with crackheads ...still pissed about that bike though ...it was a real nice bike, i even put a basket in front so it looked like a granny bike lol

just goes to show you, people spend hundreds on their bike, and then get a cheap lock.....how many times have you seen a derelict frame still locked to a bike stand? you've seen them, the frame is completely stripped yet it is still locked up because of the good lock....some of the best can't even be cut off with a torch, the steel or metal is too hard and has a melting point that can't be melted with an oxy/acetylene mixture......

my bike was locked to a LEGAL bike stand...REASON I locked it there cuz i figured since the police or city are in and out of that spot and it was right at the corner of busy Queen ST. no one would dare. I had a good lock on it...it was obvious the thief had cutters.
