A woman could die and all he gets is a $400 fine?. Something is wrong here.

It’s time cyclists were licensed just like drivers.

Maybe then they would take the rules of the road more seriously. Maybe then they would think twice before they mow down a pedestrian while riding the wrong way on a one-way street.

And maybe then a middle-aged woman wouldn’t be in hospital right now with life-threatening injuries.

He faces a careless driving charge and a $400 fine — but unlike a car driver, faces no demerit points or increases on his insurance. Several hundred dollars later and he gets to pedal away with virtual impunity. Read more....

A cyclist who was going the wrong way on a one-way street when he struck a 56-year-old woman and fractured her skull will be fined $400, whether the woman lives or dies.

Police say they lay charges based on the offence, not the outcome, and there was no criminal intent on the part of the cyclist.

I call this bullshit. He should be put in jail period.

Cyclists think they own the roads. Time to make them more accountable and I hope the old lady comes out alive.

Having a car license doesn't prevent automobile collisions.

Cyclists are already accountable, they can receive tickets, face charges or be sued for their actions.
I agree with nailing them for blatant infractions and we should make the roads safer for them as well by giving them lanes on every road.
