He was barely in his 40s, far too young to die suddenly of a heart attack. He was physically fit and lived an active life. The killer struck him at home in bed, sleeping peacefully, wife at his side. He was a model citizen. In addition to publishing an obituary, the local paper carried a news story, citing his accomplishments both as business leader and community volunteer, coaching minor hockey and so on. He will be missed.
Pondering the sudden, shocking loss of this friend, I stumbled on the recollection of another prominent business man who died suddenly of a heart attack, 15 years ago.
The initial newspaper story was short. Unidentified male body found naked in hallway of seedy rooming house known to police for drug and prostitution activity. A day later, when police determined his name and released it to media, details about the prostitute in whose bed he died and the pimp who helped her drag his body into the hall far outweighed interest in the gentlemen's list of accomplishments.
Reflecting on my own mortality and the possibility/risk of life being snatched when least expected, I know I would rather be remembered for my accomplishments than for a sordid tale of disgrace.
So I wonder how best to avoid embarrassing family and friends in case I am companionshipped to death, mid-orgasm in the bed of a beautiful lady.
I don't fear being dragged into the hallway by a pair of idiots because I don't play in dives with druggies. I choose to spend my time with ladies who are bright, classy, elegant and smart. Smart enough, I believe, to handle a client crisis with discretion and grace.
Still, there are things I wonder about. To wit:
• How would an escort deal with the situation in the moments after a client's heart attack?
• Would it make a difference if she is indie or works for an agency?
• Would she check for ID and possibly a note indicating someone to call in an emergency?
• If that emergency friend of the deceased could even come to the scene, what could he do?
• Should the escort merely call front desk immediately to report a medical emergency?
• Do hotels have protocol in place to deal with heart attack victims discreetly?
• Would an ambulance be required to remove the body?
• Would a police report be required?
• Could such a death be recorded without identifying specific circumstances?
• Would it even be possible to avoid public awareness and stigma associated with contract sex?
Ladies:
• How would you deal with a surprise medical crisis while a client is naked in your arms?
• Would it be helpful if a client had an easily discoverable wallet card with a number to phone for help?
• Who would you call for immediate assistance?
Gentlemen:
• Do you ever ponder your own mortality and potential legacy?
• What can you or I do to ensure sudden death during playtime can still be discreet departure?
