omg. I work with an office full of Southern women. Wanna get a group of Southern women in a tizzy? Tell them we're gonna get a half-inch of snow, late next week. They will find that storm on the radar (usually out over California at this point) and they will watch it relentlessly, providing hourly updates to the office.
Some days it makes me laugh, but usually I just find it tiresome. One day I said, "the weather will be what it's gonna be. That storm is so far out that today's forecast doesn't mean anything. All you're doing is making yourself crazy, and you're gonna take me with you." Nothing changed, but I felt a little better having said it.
Having said that, I'll also say this...I do pay close attention to the immediate weather forecast at this time of year. Spring and summer storms here can be quite dramatic, and it's tornado season.
