And got caught :biggrin2:

TORONTO - Mayor Rob Ford and Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti sent out a “wake-up call” to city workers Wednesday.
Mammoliti released a photo Wednesday of what he claims was a CUPE Local 79 employee “sleeping on the job” at the Carmine Stefano Community Centre in his ward and alleged workers are nodding off across the city.

Local 79 fired back that the whole incident was a Mammoliti “media stunt” and that the union assumes the employee was on his break until it is proven otherwise.

City of Toronto officials confirmed they are reviewing the situation and will take “the appropriate action.”

Just a few hours after Mammoliti released the photo and a press release warning city staff to “wake up,” Ford came out slamming the apparently sleeping employee.

“If we have someone that is literally sleeping at their desk ... we cannot tolerate this,” Ford said.

He’s asked city staff to investigate and has demanded that the employee and his supervisor be dismissed if he was in fact sleeping, Ford said.

“That’s a complete embarrassment and a black eye on our city,” he said.
The mayor acknowledged the employee may have been on break or sick.

“I don’t want to hear these excuses,” Ford said. “I want people to show up to work and do their job. If they can’t do their job there are thousands of other people that are willing and able to do their job.”

Although he didn’t identify the employee by name, Mammoliti said he works in the weight room at the community centre and his job is to ensure everyone is using the weights properly.

At the community centre where the photo was snapped, a man wearing a dark hoodie similar to the one in the photo initially denied it was him in the photo but when asked again denied he was sleeping.

“Clearly, I’m looking for something on the floor,” said the man who would not give his full name.

“Your perception is of someone sleeping. Mine is (of someone) looking for something on the floor.”
The employee then told another city employee he was being harassed and asked that the reporter be asked to leave. That other city employee also refused to give his name and directed all questions to the city’s media relations department.

“This isn’t an isolated incident, there are cases all over the city where staff people feel they can just sleep on the job, put their head (down) on the job and not worry about the repercussions,” Mammoliti said.

Local 79 president Tim Maguire called the release of the photo a “media stunt.”
“Our assumption until further information is that this employee was on a mid-morning break,” Maguire said. “Of course the optics look bad that is why it is a media stunt to distract.”

The union leader pointed out the city has a policy against taking photos inside community centres which Mammoliti or his staff broke by taking the photo.

“If someone is on their break they shouldn’t be fearful of very powerful people using them as an example to distract from service cuts,” Maguire said.
He dismissed Mammoliti’s claim workers were snoozing across the city.

“There is not a culture of people sleeping on the job at community centres,” Maguire said.

the real question is have I been awake at work more than 3% of the time

Tech work is slow moving and I love it

“Clearly, I’m looking for something on the floor,” said the man

:rofl!::rofl!:

Yeah right.

What about when Mayor Ford fell asleep at a council meeting and the lower rent Mammoliti is getting away with. He's a pig at the public tit and he likes to embarrass his employees. He's a media whore plain and simple.

web unearths photo of mayor allegedly asleep at City Hall

One day after Mayor Rob Ford called for the firing of a city worker and the outsourcing of recreation workers after a picture was circulated of a city employee allegedly sleeping on the job, the mayor was the subject of his own viral photo, showing him with his eyes closed during a marathon meeting two years ago.

The top photo on the Thursday morning depicts the mayor leaning back on his chair, his hands clasped on his stomach and his face relaxed, with his eyelids shut.

Ford flatly denied he was sleeping in the photo.

“I’m not sleeping,” Ford said during a rare scrum with reporters Thursday afternoon. “You know what this is ridiculous. This is during the 24-hour meeting when deputants are every three minutes. It is so farfetched it is not even funny.”

After seeing the picture, Ford dismissed it.

“Oh buddy, that’s not how I sleep,” he said, according to reports.

The photo, posted to a “social-democratic” blog two years ago, was apparently taken during a from July 28 to 29, 2011. A Twitter posting of the picture is
The meeting featured 168 citizens speaking to the executive committee about contentious cutbacks to city services, including, memorably, a teenage girl breaking down in tears while discussing her love of the city’s libraries and a man using a sock puppet to tell councillors not to act like puppets.

Yes, I have fallen asleep at work before. The longest was for like 10 minutes.. And I don't think anyone noticed. I was in an office at the time, I'm sure someone would have said something if they came by :)

Ford and Mammoliti are both goons and should be removed from political office.

Miss having a private office. Used to be able to just close the door and nap when I wanted to :biggrin2:

I have as well....But I was also on my lunch at the time. The other guy at the table was just killing himself laughing, because I was trying to eat my lunch at the time. So here I am dozing off between fork fulls of food. I just can't remember why I was so exhausted that the time.

I've also fallen asleep on a stair climber while at the gym. Then funnier part is that I didn't stop! Yes, I find cardio machines boring as hell.

That's nothing. I feel asleep during my own presentation once to a client. I remember finishing with "thank you very much" and then I was praised for doing some of my best work.

Perfect and he's denying it too. I'm sure Mammoliti has lots of skeletons in the closet too and they will come out. He's such a pompous ass!

It reminds me of the TTC employee that was photographed asleep, only later to find out that he had health issues, sleep apnea and eventually died.

I don't condone sleeping on the job at all, and I do applaud employers that offer staff rooms, so if you do need 15 minutes, go for it as long as you don't do it on the work floor.
