All too often the victims of sexual assault are blamed for crimes committed against them.

No means no: simple as. It doesn't matter how a woman is dressed or whether she flirted with you: that's not consent.

Now, a woman has taken to Facebook to point out how ridiculous victim blaming is.

Bree Wiseman posted an image of her dog sitting next to a steak. She captioned the image pointing out how he wasn't eating it because she told him 'no' and he got that.

She said : "To the people that say women get raped due to the way they are dressed.

This is my dog. His favorite food is steak. He is eye level with my plate. He won't get any closer because I told him no. If a dog is better behaved than you are, you need to reevaluate your life. Feel free to share, my dog is adorable."

The post has been shared nearly 300,000 times.

One commenter said: "Thank you for this! So true in the context you are posting and beyond! Your dog understands how to respect boundaries - why can't people? Awesome dog by the way."

Another added: "It is not true rape is an act of sex, it is an act of power and domination over the other person. It has nothing to do with how a person is dressed it is all about the control that they have in making the other person do something that they don't want to do."

The police recently released a video explaining consent based around the idea that if you're still struggling with consent then it's easier just imagine instead of initiating sex you're making them a cup of tea.

Rape happens to people of all genders and sexualities.

About 92 percent of victims are female and eight percent male and most rapes occur between people who know each other in some way.

Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales alone every year and it is estimated that only 15% of women who are raped even go to the police.

Primo, one could assume by your post that you think that someone who is raped, invites it........which is so very wrong. You just can't play devils advocate in the situation of rape. Rape isn't akin to anything else, and comparing it to another act is insulting, imo. Stealing money from someone is awful, violent, and criminal, but are you seriously going to compare taking someones cash to what is taken when someone is raped? The same goes with hearing sexual comments, jeers, or any other type of words, that certainly is far less violent than rape. When a man or women says no and who ever his/her partner may be, continues to seek sexual contact/intercourse without their partners consent and they then force themselves on their partner, that is rape, no if's ands or buts. I know you always have a "what if" perspective, but sorry you can't twist rape into anything but what it is. No means NO, rape is rape. Please be more understanding and empathetic.

Here's my two cents for what it is worth.

Although I can't under any circumstances fathom the idea of forcing myself on a non consenting human being.

There are a small percentage of individuals that get very aroused at that thought.

And the biggest issue is that they hide amongst us.

So I believe it is up to us to have our antennae up at all times to place ourselves in the least dangerous possible situations as possible. The problem is that in most cases that won't be good enough as it seems a lot of victims seem to actually know their attacker!

Be careful out there.

Hi babe. No means no, you are right but that should be delegated to all aspects of life. Stealing money from someone is just as bad. This person works 90 hours a week to feed his family. He gets robbed for a couple of thousand. Don't you call that rape?. Who gives these crooks the authority to rob the man's sweat and take food from his family?. Rape for sure, you think his kids that will be sleeping hungry care about what is right or not?. Obviously not.

I hope you can understand this or I have many other examples I can shoot at you. I rather shoot something else on you but that is another subject :shout::-Cool/"

Sorry Prick, I've been robbed(of money and of a pet) and I've been raped, I can assure you that being raped was worse and in no way comparable.......
