Where is the rancher who owned, this group of cattle???. These animals should have been moved to a lower pasture, long before the first big snow hit.

Can anyone that knows about these things educate me please.

Thanks.

The U.S. Forest Service is considering explosives to move a bunch of frozen cows that died after getting stuck inside a cabin at 3,350 metres in Colorado's Rocky Mountains.

The Aspen Daily News reports agency officials are worried about the high fire danger and are looking at other solutions when they meet on Tuesday such as using helicopters or trucks.

The carcasses were discovered by two Air Force Academy cadets when they snow-shoed up to the cabin in late March. Officials believe the animals sought shelter during a snowstorm and got stuck.

The cabin is located near the Conundrum Hot Springs, a hiking area near Aspen in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness area.

PETA will have last say, no?.

Well in light of the fact that it was recently revealed that PETA kills some 90+% of the animals that they "save" I seriously doubt that they have too much to say.

But that just alludes to the long standing debate about "life at any cost".....meaning, if an animal is being mistreated, is it better to keep it alive indefinitely or do it a mercy and put it out gracefully? Then there's the cost.....do you save all animals at any price?

I am in complete agreement with putting down injured and suffering animals. On the other hand if what I read is correct then they don't even make an effort to find them homes. They collect and kill within 24 hours.

Not particularly ethical. Nor is wanting to deny science animal testing when your cult leader is a diabetic and owes her life to animal testing... but as she said - "It's OK for the greater good" which translates to "I'll happily exterminate a species for my own benefit"

Cattle roam vast acreages in that part of the world. No rancher keeps track of every cow. The article says a "bunch", but how many? Did five head move into the shelter (who left it open?) then die, where did the rest of the herd go?

Not a lot of facts here

again, I don't know that during an animal rescue, that it is feasible to keep ALL animals, injured or otherwise. There are just too many dogs, cats and other pets to be able to keep them all alive. I am an animal lover (stfu you pervs lol) and don't want to see any suffer ever, and wish people would be more responsible, but until such a time that people smarten the fuck up.....we'll have to deal with the amount of unwanted pets......

There is a policy up here that the animal shelters don't put down animals.....well shit, they're going to have to or build a kennel the size of Canadian Tire's distribution center because people just don't get the fact that they have to spay and neuter their cats before letting them outside....I mean hell, there's a house on the way into town that every few months puts up yet another "free kittens" sign......
