Feel good stories

...and back into the waiting mouths of the orcas that were chasing them...

I kid.

Mesquite High School senior, Alyah Mitchell was stunned when she learned that her friend JR Hall had gotten into a serious car accident.
The Texas teens were set to attend prom together, just a few weeks after the accident. When Mitchell heard that he wouldn't be able to attend the dance, she said that she “didn't feel right going with anyone else.”

“I hoped that he would be out of the hospital to go with me,” said Mitchell. “But he did not recover in time.”

Instead of finding another date, or skipping out on the event entirely, Mitchell came up with a plan. If Hall couldn't go to the prom, she would take the prom to him.

So on the night of her prom, Mitchell showed up at Hall's bedside, ready for the big dance.

“I wanted to surprise him at the hospital by me visiting him,” said Hall, who posted the photos of the emotional moment to her Twitter account. “The whole thing has been really hard for him and to me it's important to let him know that there is still somebody out here for him.”

Even though she attended the event solo, Mitchell told Mashable that she had a “wonderful time.”

As for Hall, Mitchell said that she hopes he will be out of the hospital in the next month, and that they will be attending his prom together.

“I have visited him when I could on the weekdays and weekends, to push him through rehab, and tried to just make him smile,” she said. “I just want to be a good friend to him.”
