Ok, so I'm a little behind the times.....I don't know what it is about that movie but I had no interest whatsoever in watching it.......so I finally downloaded a copy and you know, as social commentaries go, it wasn't half bad. You just wonder how many people saw the similarities to what happened there, to what we're doing here to our planet.....

Anyhow, here are some "hits" and "misses" in my opinion:
Hits:
The fact that cameron made us take the side of the "enemy" as opposed to rooting for the human race
The visuals and special effects were amazing
Cameron trying to show us that maybe we should take care of our planet instead of raping it
even though it was a little blatant, the fact that the meta were "connected" to all other things on the planet....he tried to show us that other than an actual physical connection, we too are connected to everything on our planet and should be aware that things we do, have far reaching effects.

Misses:
the music, I kept waiting for celine dion to start singing...the music is identical to that used in the titanic, wake up cameron....
6 legged animals? seriously? Horse and most other animals only have 4 for a reason, 6 don't work lol.......
the name of the ore they were after... un obtain ium? Seriously? why did he just use "hard to find ium" or "pretty rare ium"? he couldn't come up with a more hokey name if he tried lol....unobtainium lol......

I fell asleep after the first five minutes so haven't bothered trying to watch it again. I'm sure it's visually stunning and all but even really crappy B movies don't usually make me that lulled. I am hesitant to invest any time to watch a story that's been told a hundred times before. :unknw:

YOu have to do it immediately while you're there at the theatre......usually within the first hour or so, you go to the cashier and ask for a refund....I seem to recall having to fill out a form stating why I wanted the refund but every time I've come across a crappy movie, I've gotten it.

Didn't like it. Highly overrated and quite in shock that for 12 years this is the best Cameron can come up with.

What I didn't like:
1) The only people that turn "good" in the movie are females, the main crippled character, and one ethnic character. So if you're a white male, you're the villain.
2) Not only is it insulting to the humans, but it's also insulting to the natives. There's this big giant tree that the natives worship, and they literally "plug" their mind into some sort of electric socket to show how much they love the environment. Quite extreme, no?
3) The concept has been done done, and redone.

To be fair, the movie's good only for one thing - the visuals. Actions are okay, but I'm sure 10 years down the road the movie will be quickly forgotten because in my opinion it's far from a masterpiece.

I tend to agree with you gom, but I do think it would have been much more impressive on the big screen.......but you have to hand it to cameron, he developed a live "camera" way of seeing the characters on the correct background while he was filming....that's quite the achievement......
