Father arrested after deputies find alcohol stored in daughter's room, stripper pole and drugs in the living room of suburban home, authorities say

Anthony Genovese

He had a stripper pole in his living room, marijuana in an ashtray and liquor bottles in his teenage daughters' room, and the overall effect prompted his arrest Friday on a charge of child neglect, authorities said.

Anthony Genovese, 41, of suburban Lantana was taken into custody after Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies were called to his house on Ocala Road, near Lawrence and Lantana roads about 9:40 a.m.

A deputy who toured the 1,200 square- foot house noted the stripper pole and drugs and then found rum, vodka and champagne bottles in Genovese's daughters' room, he wrote in an affidavit for Genovese's arrest.

The deputy talked to Genovese's 17-year-old daughter, who explained that her sister had a party and her friends brought the alcohol. She said "it got out of hand when the girls started taking off their clothing," the deputy said. :drunk:

Interviewed at school, Genovese's other daughter, whose name wasn't made public, said the marijuana was hers and that Genovese let her smoke it in the house because he said there were "worse things she could be doing." :???:

A judge on Saturday ordered Genovese released on his own recognizance.
Genovese called the arrest affidavit inaccurate and said he was known as a model father. :gasp:

"I can fill the courtroom twice with people who can say how great a dad I am," he said.

Well, without knowing all the details, letting your 17 yr old have a party at your place is better than not knowing where or what she's doing. At least this way he can keep an eye on her (and her naked friends lol).

I remember a buddy's father saying if we're going to party, we can party at his place and even bought us beer. He spoke to my parents and said "would you rather them steal the beer from you and go sit in a park somewhere doing god knows what"???

I remember my Father taking me aside when I was 16. Pulled up a joint and said to me, one day someone is going to ask you to smoke this. It is not good for you as it may lead to bigger drug problems and should always say no. Then lid it up passed it to me and said.

Here smoke a couple of puffs so you will know how it tastes and feels. Since then never took any drugs.

Well, that's a crock because I know lot's of people who smoke weed and would never dream of doing anything else....

That's like saying shoplifting may lead to murder, or don't drink beer because it may lead to drunk driving. It can, but doesn't necessarily mean it will.
