They received $175 mil then invested half in the stock market and lost it all.

$40,000 for Staff party. ++++

OK raise my taxes some more. Here let me bend over.

Some of the irregularities found in Jeffrey Griffith’s review of TCHC procurement practices covering Jan. 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.
• Inappropriate expenses: a $40,000 Christmas staff dinner, $1,000 for Holt Renfrew chocolates, $5,000 given to one staffer without documentation of how it was spent; $800 for massages at a staff picnic.
A “lack of due diligence” in reimbursing expenses to third parties.
Frequently, a lack of a proper bidding process in buying goods or services, which could have saved $4 million to $10 million.
$500,000 worth of solar panels bought from China using an overseas agent who was a long-time friend of a TCHC staff member, without declaring a conflict of interest.
• A $25 million refurbishment deal handed to a vendor who put forward an unsolicited proposal.

Bend over some more Lorenzo they can't reach you yet .

Ford should ask them all. Would you like to resign. If they say no then he should say.

YOU ARE FIRED.

Miller should be charged instead he landed a high paying job in some law firm. What a joke!!

IMO Miller was an incompetent mayor! Unfortunately, gross incompetence is not a crime; the victims here are clearly the taxpayers.

Like Scotty, I am sickened but not surprised at all. I am 100% positive that this happens at all levels of government.

If ford has any balls I'd be sending in investigators and see if there were any laws broken and if there were, start laying charges.....

This is just another fine example how people on the taxpayer's dollar think there's a neverending supply of funds......

Ford has to pick his battles. He waging war on several fronts. He can't take on the entire city staff at once. This was a warning shot to the other departments that if they don't play ball with his budget demands, they'll be subject to similar public embarassment.

The funds ARE neverending for the mandarins who enjoy wondrous levels of job security.

He was quoted on AM640 that he will be going after all the departments one by one. I can see many covering their traces or resigning on their own.

I still say that criminal charges should be laid if there were serious (and $25M is serious) misuse of public funds....you have to wonder how much was kicked back to the "friend" in the housing commission........

Every politician in the past has used the office to further their careers, Ford seems to really be cut out from a different mold. Good for him!!!

Corruption runs in all governments across the board. Harper too is deflecting serious allegations.

The public should stop picking on the workers and start focusing on the real problems in the public sector and that's the heads of departments and bureaucratic that milk the system to line their own pockets as well as their business associates in the private sector!!!

I bet they won't resign, that means they'd give up their "golden parachute" like all public officials. Even if you come out and admit you steal, you still get a great package (like the head of Ontario Hydro who was actually charged with embezzlement but still got a package....).

I hate to sound like a broken record but I'd be taking a good long look at whether or not any of their actions could be considered criminal.

I'd really like to hear why the board feels it shouldn't resign? That's ludicrous. They blew millions of dollars........

Because maybe they feel that the job of helping their fellow man isn't good enough? After they have devoted so much time they should be allowed to rape the system no?

Civilians quit. World rejoices.

^^^^ it seems like it doesn't it? praising the Chairman? WTF....that's like praising the head honcho at a lynch mob.....

The audacity of these people......act like martyrs when they should be apologizing out their asses for doing such a shitty job.

This so reminds me of the condo board of the place I used to live at. Costs for projects doubled and tripled and when questioned they simply referred to PAID experts (paid for by the property management company). I said one time "didn't you think to question the cost differential before commencing work"? They signed a contract for $75K, then the contracted company submitted an invoice for commencement of work at double the quoted price...and the boneheads signed it!

(they got pissed off when I said in the meeting: if anyone shows up with a new ferrari or mercedes, you better hire someone to stand guard over it....LOL that didn't go over well)
