How many time do you drop your phone - smart phone - blackberry - iPod phone or whatever. You say shit I hope it didn't break, I should saved my contact list. But once you find out phone is ok you forget to safe data?.

My phone dropped again and cannot get it back on. Did I lose all my data contacts or is there a way to retrieve it?

Listening to the tech guys.......

Could the battery have gotten jostled, did you take it out and put it back in?

and HOF, really....get in this century, you dinosaur.

Hof, do you own a car? Oh never mind I see you out with the gang. Is that SillyG beside you with Baz and Ida in the back?

What would you do in an emergency situation?.

flag down car, walk into any store and ask to use the phone, walk into any restaurant and ask to use the phone......we don't live in the wild wild west any longer....

I had this discussion with my (broke) niece, why she needed a cellphone, she said "in case there's an emergency with her daughter during the day" I said, you're at work right|? yeah, so, why can't they call you there? Oh we're not supposed to accept personal calls....fuuuuuck i don't think they'd mind if there was an emergency......what if i'm at my friends? THey don't have a phone? well, yeah.....

what if i'm out or something? well, what can you do if you're out and there's an emergency? NOTHING. Back in the day, if my parents were out, we were with them. If we weren't, the sitter knew where they'd be and have the number. Easy.

I haven't had a cellphone for....8 or 9 months now....bfd....everyone is so brainwashed to think that it's a necessity.

Anyhow, to answer the original question: I thought he lost his contact LENS' lol.....

Now, after losing data from 3 phones, i only buy phones with sim cards now....so if you have to replace the phone, you move the sim card....easy.

That's why I periodically use the backup feature to back up data, contacts, etc from my blackberry, ipod and playbook to my laptop. That way, I can always restore my important data.

Beer, go to a Rogers store. I believe that they might be able to help you retrieve the info. About a year and a half ago, I dropped and broke my old BB and they were able to retrieve its contacts and load it into the new phone that I got.

Thanks KR, never knew about that. Yes SG, I took out battery but didn't work.

this may seem like a dumb question at this point but: does it have a sim card?

mine not only has a sim card but an extra memory micro sd card too.....both can be easily transferred to a new phone.....

funny though, i hear about the iphone's screen cracking with a little drop, i hear about others getting fucked up by them being knocked off a table onto hardwood, i've dropped my nokia off an eight foot ladder onto a concrete floor and it's still going strong.....(I use it for music, clock, calculator, not a phone)

ABSOLUTELY AGREE!

I've driven all over Canada and the USA without a cell phone! If I were stuck on the Trans-Canada, I still wouldn't need a cell phone because of patrols and other vehicles. For me, it is a complete waste of money.

In my vehicle, I have the following:

1. First aid kit.
2. 2 blankets, dry socks, hat, gloves, flares, flashlight, candle, 5 canned food products with manual opener and could drink the juice if there's no water around.
3. Windshield sun visor that reads SOS on one side.
4. Roll of quarters, loonies.
5. Empty gas can.

When I hobby and need to make a call, I use a payphone and I pre-arrange that call with whomever to ensure they answer.

LIFE IS VERY SIMPLE WITHOUT CELL-PHONES! In fact, if I could get lose the landline I would!
