Well of course it is Curly, that was the whole intention. I meant to make people uncomfortable, and to question a common societal double standard.

Let's start by looking at some threads...

Primo's Describes My Life to a T, presents to us an article in which a woman confesses to the realization that over the past years she has been abusing her husband. Not only that, but she also sees her female friends doing the same. While most of the posters were sympathetic to Primo's situation, there were a few that poked fun at him about it. (Though the one appears to have been deleted.) Now I question if that article had of been written by a man describing how he abused his wife (in the same manner), and was posted up by a female member of the board, how would the responce be different?

Then we move on to God's You're a Retard if You Ever Hit a Woman thread. In this we see an altercation between a man and woman in a bar which ultimately ends in him hitting her. Naturally, this drew a great response calling him all sorts of names, and the common consensus that a "man should never ever ever hit a woman no matter what.". But then a couple of troublemakers showed up, and asked an unpleasant question. "Why is he being punished, but she isn't, when she initiated the fight?" The answer basically boiled down to "because she's a girl," and "ignore the details." Which brought up another question. "if it is wrong for men to hot women under any circumstance, why is it acceptable for women to hit men?" Which never really got answered beyond "because she's a girl."

Finally we have 5 girls beat up 1 girl, guy saves her". The title about says it all, five girls were beating on another, and a guy jumps in and fights them off. You would think what a great and gallant thing to do! But before others got in there and started offering to buy this guy a beer, and expounding his virtues, I got in there and called him scum and a thug. Am I nuts? No, I got a chip on my shoulder and I'm out to prove a point. I point to the "You are a Retard..." thread, and point out how they agreed that "no matter what, a man should never hit a woman." In coming to this woman's defense, he hits multiple women. So if hitting women is bad, doing what he did was bad.

So I figured WTF, let's kick the kettle, and throw it into people's faces.

I remembered from a number of years back, a poster on another board posted up a video of a young man being assaulted by a young woman. That video being a longer, unedited, version of the video I put in my first post. No one there referred to him as a "real man" or "gentleman" for weathering that abuse. No, the terms wimp and pussy were bandied about. Some female posters even went so far as to say he should have clocked her.

Why not run it up the flag pole here and see what we get? At the time of me writing this, there are 10 respondents to the poll; two call him a gentleman, and the other eight say he deserved it. Notice how not one person has said what she was doing was wrong. I would put it to you that by not speaking out that you are condoning that behavior. Yet, if the roles were reversed, and all he did was slap her, the vitriol would be flying. A person would be out of their mind if they said "she deserved it."

The WWYD girl beats boyfriend video was actually an opportunity video, that popped up when I was looking up the above video. Now, I didn't link what one could consider the companion video, in which the guy abuses the woman, but that is irrelevant. What we see is that all except one group chose to ignore what was going on. When interviewed, several of the people thought what was happening was funny, and that he deserved it. That includes a police officer!

We claim to live in a fair and equal society, yet when one segment of that society is abused it's an outrage and terrible sin. Yet when another segment of that society is the recipient of abuse, it's seen as nothing more than a joke. Why is it, and why is that acceptable?

This is because men in high places are like most men that believe they must be the protectors and white knights and this to some extent has merit because men are naturally stronger than women in a physical sense albeit not always the case.

In the case of the subway I believe the gentleman played his cards perfectly because in the end she was hauled off, not him. He does get the last laugh with a few bruises to go with it.
