Ok, this might seem like a weenie post, but that last concert I went to was Gwar, back in '91, and I went with a bunch of friends. This time I've grabbed a ticket for Gigantour, in August. (I'm kicking my own ass for not nabbing a Sabbath ticket when they were reasonable.)

With that in mind, would anyone have any advice on attending? Ie get a room vs the 2hour drive home at 1am; carry cash only or have both; wear heavy shoes or very comfy shoes; show 'starts' at 4:30, be there at what time at the latest; etc.

And yes, I am expecting a couple of get a room and a Roommate for the night. :p

Get an incall girl for the night and save the price of the room! /-Thumbs-up::/

LOL, I ain't made of money to do that kinda thing. :p Nice idea though.

There are 6 acts for Gigantour, so if you want to see all 6 acts then get there at 4:30pm (though it might be doors open at 4:30)

Check https://twitter.com/MolsonCanAmp day before/after for exact schedule of band set times.
If your not interested in say, a Death Division, then don't bother getting there at 4:30

Molson Amp has a curfew of before 12am (I think)? So you should be back home easily before 2am

There is plenty of seating at Amp (with lounge areas), concessions, merchandising, food trucks and cash/credit/debit machines for purchasing. So enjoy!

BTW, I'm sure you can get a single ticket (at cost) for Sabbath pretty easily. Check Ticketmaster, Craigslist, Kijiji, etc.

Wear heavy boots, make sure your watch band is sturdy. Aside from that, do you intend of doing the mosh pit? if so, yes, carry cash in your front pocket. Be sure to keep hydrated, buy a water bottle, then just refill in the washrooms. Get a tshirt commemorating the event.

Yeah, I was thinking my Vibrams would be a bad idea, so either my Docs or my steel toed Blundstones. I only wear a watch at work, so that won't be an issue. I wasn't planning to try the mosh pit, as I've got no one to hold my glasses. Though that does bring up the issue of a phone. Lock it up in the car?

Still curious, carry cash only, or cash & plastic?

And get a room or not? I mightn't be smoking anything, but that doesn't mean no one else will be.

And get the the venue how early?

Depends if you want to see all the acts?
They will post the band schedule day of: https://twitter.com/MolsonCanAmp

I'd bring my phone (for pics or emergency) since you're not hittin' the mosh pit, and I don't think there will be that much secondary "smoke" to worry about

I usually bring about 100$ plus a CC for incidentals. Docs should be fine. and bringing your phone is fine. When I went to the DethKlok concert, or any of the shows at Kinetic, including the heavy industrial ones (Combichrist was one of the featured bands), I had my phone strapped to my belt as always.
