So I met this girl, she likes the outdoors and asked her out to a date for tomorrow. Told her I was going to take her to the Toronto Islands for a picnic. I figure taking the Ferry and then walking through the outdoors would make it easier for her to say yes. She did :music:

No what the hell do I pack and where do I buy a picnic basket.

Any suggestions?.

Pusateri's have great baskets you can choose from.

Good luck.

That will be too easy and too fancy. I want it to seem that I went to the trouble of doing it myself.

Use a cooler bag or a rollable cooler, nothing wrong with that. As for what to bring, you might want to try...

Bottle of white wine / glasses
grapes
cheese (good stuff)
soda water
nice flat bread or wafers
nice deli meats
condoms

Good luck bro.

Is there a Bed Bath & Beyond near you? I think they have picnic baskets.

It's going to be cold near the water for a picnic. Head out and when she complains it's to cold take her to the Oasis club downtown. You will thank me later.

Don't listen to him Vito, he is a madman.

15°C and mainly sunny.

I would bring champagne before wine.

i think champagne is a little over the top for a first date....isn't that more for a celebration as opposed to a first date? I mean, of course he wants to celebrate that he actually got a date with this chick lol.....

Player is right, it's going to be nippy on the water this time of year....even if it feels warm in the city the wind blowing across that 4 degree water is going to be c c cold......plus make sure you find a place with picnic tables, the ground will be too wet to spread a blanket on......

I wouldn't worry so much about the classic picnic basket.....as stated, a rolling cooler is way more practical.

Don't get to sticky and give her space.

Good luck.

I know I'm late, but:

CENTRE ISLAND DATE IN A CAN:
========================
-Pack a picnic lunch (class it up with some wine in a bag and some frosh boy cups :) )
-Take the ferry to Centreville (the main ferry). Get to the upper level of the ferry, and get to a railing. Take pictures / scare the women / whatever.
-Disembark, and poke your head into Centreville. Maybe ride the cable cars or something.
-There's a restaurant surrounded on 3 sides by water. The food is so-so, but it's OK for drinks and a break.
-Cross the bridge by the restaurant and go to the pier with the distance signs. Stare a bit. Look at the public beach. The water. Your date.
-If you want to rent the peddle-bike-car-thingies do it at the base of the pier.
-Now, if you head West at the base of the pier (hang a right when you're facing the pier) there are a large number of semi-private unsupervised beaches of the South side of the island. Great for picnics, or a little nookie (just think of the children).
-If you're a walker, I suggest heading East at the base of the pier (hang a left). After a ways there's this slightly rougher looking trail that hugs the water more than the paved path. This leads to a lovely boardwalk. Take that for a little ways.
-After you walk the boardwalk for a bit, take one of the rough footpaths off the boardwalk back to the main trail. KEEP HEADING EAST. From the main trail there are any number of lovely parks with excellent city views. These are also good for picnics. (Jack Layton got married in one.) Eventually you get to a marinia and some houses. KEEP FOLLOWING THE MAIN TRAIL EAST.
-All the way East there's the Ward's Island Ferry. HERE'S A PROTIP: If you take that Ferry it gives you a FREE HARBOUR TOUR as it crosses the whole island to get to Hanlan's(sp) Point by the airport.
-Get off at Hanlan's if you want to go to the nude beach :) , or stay on the ferry if you want to go back to the mainland.

If you don't get laid after that it's on you. :tease:

Thanks all for the good tips. We had a great time, a little windy but we managed and only stayed a few hours. We then went for espresso and chatted for a few more hour. No didn't get laid THAT night :tease:

She is smarter than me so I let her do most of the talking. We text each other daily and I may have lucked out. Time will tell.
