What is the norm for a cash present?. Does it matter if they are friends or family members?. The bride is my GF's second cousin, I was told at least what it costs for the meal. Any ideas ?. Or do we buy them China or crystal stuff.

Depends on whether the bride is GFE or PSE.
GFE = $150 per person
PSE = $250 per person

if your are bringing a date its extra for the threesome

as always YMMV

LOL.

If it's an Italian wedding, then as previously advised. (Typically $100-$120 a head but a wedding at Eagles Nest is like $200-$250 a head).

If you're related, you should give more. If you're a Godfather, still even more.

Er, this wouldn't be a wedding at the AGO would it? If so, let's have a beer ;)

Depends on the culture. If western folks, gifts are usually the norm. They should be registered somewhere. If asian, european (italian, portuguese), cash is preferred (busta!). If indian, remember that an odd number is lucky (e.g., instead of $300, make it $301).

Plate costs at a hall run about $70 to $100 (depending on bar service, etc). I say minimum $300 per couple.

Have fun at the wedding! :lol:

This AGO wedding is starting to sound like another cearf party.

Give them a card! Let them both know that you're putting 200.00 in 2 separate envelopes to help them both out when they separate! Just kidding!

300.00 is about right or check if they have registered somewhere for gifts.
