A TTC bus driver accused of assaulting a passenger surrendered to Toronto Police late Tuesday. Const. Wendy Drummond confirmed to the Toronto Sun Wednesday that the Toronto Transit Commission worker has been charged with assault.
The news of the arrest comes the same day the , the worker's alleged victim.

Drummond stressed the investigation has been ongoing. Frederick Tulk, 59, of Pickering, is charged with assault. He will appear in court March 17 at 1911 Eglinton Ave. E. at 1 p.m. Tulk said he had no comment when contacted Wednesday. Police allege Gould, 40, and his son were riding the Sheppard East bus on the morning of Jan. 8.

A TTC employee boarded the crowd bus at McCowan Rd., spoke to the driver and then yelled at the passengers to move back, Drummond said. TTC officials said the employee was on duty and on his way to his own bus route.

When the man and son didn't move, "because they couldn't move," the worker yelled at them and then grabbed the man by the shoulder and pushed him into a pole, Drummond said.

Police said video from the security camera on the TTC bus was used in the investigation.
TTC spokesman Brad Ross said Tuesday that the transit authority was aware of the incident and “appropriate” action has been taken. Reached Wednesday, Ross said he couldn't get into any more detail because the matter was now before the courts.
"This is one individual," Ross said. "That individual will be held accountable for those alleged actions."

The alleged assault against a customer is "not condoned by this organization," Ross stressed. "This is not indicative of how our employees behave," he said."The vast majority (of TTC workers) do an excellent job every day."

Blah blah blah, so we have a hot head who thinks he's a tough guy. It doesn't mean as the TTC spokesman stated that all the employee are of the same attitude. I know of some members here that are quick to want to get their lunch handed to them but does that mean all members are the same?

I don't think a TTC employee can let out a silencer anymore without it getting publicized in the media.

Oooooh he made a stink on the bus I had to get off one stop earlier in the cold. The bus driver should be fired and I should be given one month worth of free tokens!!

"This is one individual," Ross said.

Of many TTC employees. Bet you next week there will be another :666:.

A 59-year old TTC driver assaulting a young guy like this??!! Thats odd

So they video tape their employees but they don't want people taking "gotcha pictures" hmmmmm

If I'm the 40 yr old guy I would feel embarrassed to press charges against a man 20 yrs my senior.

But in today's political correct world everybody is looking to take advantage of the system.

Now I'm not saying he shouldn't have filed a complaint with the TTC but to involve the police?

I'd rather the cops spent their time and resources dealing with real crime and not some putz whose feelings were hurt.

I'm sure there will be a civil suit forthcoming against The TTC and the driver and the dude with claim he has nightmares and is afraid to use public transit...blah..blah.

Perhaps he thought the TTC would have buried it if he didn't report it to the cops, though I agree it does come across as fairly wimpy.

What if the guy was twice his size?. It is all irrelevent abuse of power is just that. Man is probably a wimp but has his rights like we all do.

Dude, the guy got pushed! that's it.

And for that he calls the police. Think about it for a minute if everyone who got pushed called the police to press charges do you realize how backed up the courts would be?

Great use of tax dollars there.

To answer your other question the driver is 59, Come on how intimidating could that be really.

I get your point being pushed is not a big deal but the dude: <and then grabbed the man by the shoulder and pushed him into a pole>. Plus he is a civil servant and that is a big no no in anyone's books.

Agreed it is a no no.

I however would have contacted the TTC and lodged a complaint with the threat of pressing charges if the matter was not dealt with.

Now I'm assuming the passenger did not provoke the situation by swearing or threatening or instigating physical contact.

Because if thats the situation then he's got no case whatsoever.

As usual we need to hear both sides and witnesses here.

This what todays PC society has come to, you even slightly brush somebody and its criminal charges, lawsuits, govt enquiries......you name it.

I wouldnt be surprised if we get some kind of multi-million dollar Dubin inquiry into the TTC to make sure there's no racism or sumthin else going on
