I didn't read the article but off the cuff I'm not surprised.

When I was in Mississauga I had some old psychology textbooks to get rid of. The editions were outdated so I couldn't sell them back to the campus book store at a highway robbery low price, so I decided to donate them to the local high school, which happened to be Catholic (Peel). My thinking was that if any students were considering studying psych at university it would give them an idea what a textbook is like and what they'd be learning.

A couple years later I needed one for my thesis and went back to see if I could borrow it as I donated it in the first place. I couldn't find even 1 of the several books I had dropped off. Maybe they went to a central location for distribution, but I can't help but think that many psychology schools of thought (e.g. existentialism) aren't deemed in line with the church and it's way of viewing the world, therefore they threw them out. If I'm right, what a shame because I could have just as easily donated them somewhere where they would have been of use.

Who the hell wouldn't expect a Catholic school to be against anything that supports abortion.......use your minds people.

This is a private parochial school, correct? Why shouldn't they be able to make their own rules? Don't like it, take your tuition somewhere else or put your kids in public school.

Side with those protesting.....that a private institution should be able to decide what and how it serves it's customers? Then bash Dick's for deciding not to sell certain firearms or accessories. Bash companies that want to raise the age they'll sell firearms to adults. At least the latter is a protected right in the US.

I get your point but the catholic schools in Ontario are publicly funded. So does that change your view?
