Bitcoin set to overtake PayPal in 2014

Wow - that's hard to believe after all the scandals and scams involving Bitcoin recently.

It says "Bitcoin to pass PayPal in USD transaction volume" ...does that mean the total number of transactions or the value volume? I could see number of transactions possibly because each little chunk off the block chain probably qualifies as a transaction in Bitcoin terms.

Kind of a fucked up comparison because they aren't really related in anyway. Kind of like saying that Paintball has overtaken Hunting which it has.

US to auction seized Silk Road Bitcoins worth $18m

The US government will auction $18m (£11m) worth of the virtual currency Bitcoin, which was seized by the FBI when it shut down the Silk Road online marketplace in October last year.

...

Prospective bidders will have to put forward a deposit of $200,000, and all offers must be made in cash.

The price of Bitcoin, as measured by CoinDesk, fell following news of the sale, but has since made a modest recovery.

The bidding process will begin on 27 June.

For an entity that the US govt calls "not a currency", it sure stands to make some currency off of it.

I actually need to purchase a few hundred dollars worth of bitcoins and am lost.. I know you go to bank, but then convert to some counter app.. It's a headache... Anyone who can help me out, pls send me info.

I like for its variety of payment methods and compatibility with paxful I usually buy with etransfer because it's cheaper I buy 300 Canadian and receive about 200 American depending on the vendor.

Look at rating and even how many times they have been blocked because sometimes people are scared to leave negative feedback and just block them instead. vendors will ask for proof of identity

however if you look on backpage there are bitcoin ATMs you use an app and cc for usually they don't take verification but I haven't tried a atm yet ether

You can also try this but I like paxful so I haven't tried yet https://www.bitquick.co/backpager

Now this option obviously isn't for everyone but advertising Skype cam shows, snap chat membership, kik for selling individual photos on American sites is great way not only to make extra money but the payoneer card you will receive your payment on can be used to buy bitcoins! The exchange Rate is awesome when you convert it to Canadian. But always watch what kind of payout you get for advertising there and see if they have options to up your payout options. They usually take about 15 percent but with the exchange rate you won't lose much as long as the American dollar stays low.

if you pm me i can send you links referral links to the sites that I advertise on but it's all private shows that I advertise no stupid free cams begging for tips.

Need to dig a bit deeper into the bitcoin market, which wallets are you recommending?

I have an old coinbase account, no idea if I should keep working with that one.

I also got a suggestion that armory was good for protection and when sitting on bigger balances.

I'm eager to hear what the HUBGFE gurus are suggesting?

Early days but it looks like around 119,000 bitcoin stolen. That is about 70 million dollars.

Crashed the price nearly $200.

It was closer to 95 million, not 70 million.
